H1N1 Swine Flu vaccine is advised for travellers to the Southern Hemisphere during their flu season. Please check with our travel nurses. More information can be found under the tab 'Clinics and Services' above.

Please remember that the Dispensary at Wendover Health Centre is open 6.30-8pm on Tuesday and 8.30am-10.30am on Saturday.

If you are a dispensing patient, please ask our dispensary staff about our repeat collection service.

Awarding Organistaions make no requirements for pupils to obtain a sick certificate or letter from a Doctor in support of an application for special consideration. See Clinics & Services - Non NHS Charges for further information.

Dr Anna Milward will be returning to Wendover Health Centre on Monday 9th August following maternity leave. She will be working Monday, Tuesday and alternate Thursday and Friday mornings.

Westongrove offer  patients the ability to book an appointment with a GP up to 4 weeks in advance. This means that you can book an appointment more than 2 days in ahead.  We are also making adjustments to the appointment system following patient feedback and will be adding an update regarding this in the very near future. Many thanks to all those who take the time to give us their opinion.

Westongrove also offer  appointments that can be booked for the next 48 hours for those patients who suddenly feel poorly. These appointments will be with the most appropriate member of our clinical team.

Seasonal Flu Vaccine Programme 2010

We will be sending out invitations to attend a flu clinic and receive a vaccination during September 2010. Ther clinics will take place during October & November 2010, although the final dates and times have yet to be confirmed.

We will be inviting patients who fall into the priority categories as defined by the Department of Health. These are:

  • All patients who will be age 65 or over by 31st March 2011
  • All pregnant women
  • Patients who fall into the following Chronic Disease Groups
    • Chronic Respiratory disease (COPD, chronic bronchitis and emphysema, bronchiectasis, cysytic fibrosis, pneumoconiosis and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. Also children who have previously been admitted to hospital for lower respiratory tract disease
    • Asthma - patients who require the continuous or repeated use of inhlaed or systemic steriods, or with previous exacerbations that require hospital admission
    • Chronic Heart Disease
    • Chronic Renal Failure - Renal transplantation, nephrotic syndrome, chronic renal failure
    • Chronic Liver Disease - Cirrhosis, biliary artesia, chronic hepatitis
    • Chronic Neurological Disease - stroke, TIA
    • Diabetes - Type 1, Type 2 requiring insulin or oral hypoglycaemic drugs, drug controlled diabetes
    • Immunosupression due to Disease or Treatment - HIV, some patients undergoing chemotherapy, if this leads to immunosupression, asplenia or splenic dysfunction

Children aged under 5 years who fall into the above chronic disease groups, will also be offered a H1N1 vaccination at the same time as their Seasonal Flu Vaccination - IF THEY HAVE NOT ALREADY RECEIVED A H1N1 VACCINATION

Children under 12 years who are immunosupressed will also be offered a H1N1 vaccination at the same time as their Seasonal Flu Vaccination with a further second dose offered 4 weeks after the first - IF THEY HAVE NOT ALREADY RECEIVED A H1N1 VACCINATION

Patients OVER 12 YEARS who are immunosupressed should be offered a H1N1 vaccination 4 WEEKS BEFORE their Seasonal Flu Vaccination - IF THEY HAVE NOT ALREADY HAD A H1N1 VACCINATION.
