This page explains how you can join the NHS Healthier You programme to help reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes
What is Prediabetes?
Pre-diabetes means your blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be classed as Type 2 diabetes.
Think of it as a warning sign – your body is showing that you’re at risk of developing diabetes in the future.
Often there are no symptoms at this stage, so you may not feel any different. Many people ask:
“Why me?”
Well, pre-diabetes is more common if:
- you’re a little less active than you’d like to be
- you’re carrying some extra weight
- you’re getting older
- diabetes runs in your family
You’re not alone – and the good news is there’s a lot you can do to reduce your risk.
