We offer flu vaccinations for eligible patients each year. A flu jab helps protect you from serious illness, hospitalisation, and helps protect people around you.
What to know
- Free flu vaccine through the NHS if you meet eligibility criteria (see below).
- Clinics will start from Saturday 4th October, and continue through October & November.
- You’ll be invited by text or email if you are eligible. If you do not receive a message, or don’t have mobile/email, you can call or visit reception to book.
Who is eligible for a free flu jab?
You are entitled to a free flu vaccine if you:
- Are 65 or over (or will be by 31 March 2026)
- Have certain long-term health conditions (e.g. heart, lung, kidney disease etc.)
- Are pregnant
- Are in long-stay residential care
- Receive a carer’s allowance, or are the main carer for someone older or disabled who is at risk
- Live with someone with a weakened immune system (HIV, transplant patient, cancer treatment, etc.)
- Are frontline health or social care worker who cannot get vaccine via work scheme
For children:
- Children under 2 with certain conditions may get an injectable vaccine rather than nasal spray.
- Ages 2 or 3 on 31 August 2024 get the nasal spray vaccine free.
- All primary school children (Reception to Year 6).
- Some secondary school children (Years 7-11).
- Children aged 2-17 with long-term conditions.
How to get your flu vaccine
- You’ll receive a message (text/email) if we have the details we need.
- Click the booking link or contact us via phone/reception if you prefer.
- The clinics are by appointment only — no walk-ins.
- Flu vaccine clinics are flu-only; please only attend for your flu vaccine during these times.
- Wear something loose on your upper arm to make things easier.
What to expect on the day
- Clinics may be busy — please come prepared for queues (possibly outside) and the weather.
- We will operate a one-way system inside the site.
- Please come alone if possible — unless you need someone to assist you.
- Parking is limited, so walking or arranging transport may be helpful.
Safety & Side Effects
Flu vaccines are very safe. Most side effects are mild — sore arm, tiredness or low-grade fever.
If you have had allergic reactions to flu vaccines before, or any serious health concern, please tell us in advance.
FAQs
I didn’t get a message—can I still get one?
- Yes — if you’re eligible, you can call reception or visit to book a flu vaccine even without being invited.
What if I miss all the clinics in October/November?
- We will continue offering until stock last; please contact us early.
Can I have flu vaccine if I’m pregnant / breastfeeding?
- Yes — pregnant people are eligible, and flu vaccine is safe in pregnancy.
Do I need to pay?
- No — eligible patients receive the vaccine free of charge.
