Patient Participation Group

What is a Patient Participation Group (PPG)?

A PPG is a group of patients interested in health and healthcare issues, who want to get involved with and support the running of their local GP practice and wider Primary Care Network.

Most PPGs include members of practice staff and meet at regular intervals to decide ways of making a positive contribution to the services and facilities offered by the practice, to improve the community’s health and to make sure patient experience is as good as it can be.

For further information on PPGs please visit the National Association for Patient Participation website.

Register Your Interest

Westongrove Partnership are members of NAPP (National Association for Patient Participation) and have a virtual Patient Participation Group (PPG).

Ideally we would like a mix of patients covering all ages, both male and female.

A PPG can:

  • Offer patient feedback about their experiences with the surgery.
  • Help the practice improve their services.
  • Help the practice make the best use of their resources.
  • Improve communication.
  • Help to promote good health.
  • Influence decisions about which services are provided.
  • Offer practical support to the practice.

A PPG isn’t:

  • A time consuming activity.
  • A forum for complaints.
  • A fundraising organisation.

You can register your interest by contacting us on line and clicking the Start button on the home page. Please click through the continue to GP tab, select the administration tab and then the general enquiry tab. Thank you

Fundraising Groups

We are very lucky to have two fundraising groups, called The Friends of Bedgrove Surgery and the Friends of Wendover Health Centre. Both Friends Groups are registered charities, and are made up of volunteers. Any donations or money collected through fundraising are used to purchase services or goods that make life for our patients more comfortable. They are always looking for new members. Please let us know if you are interested in joining them!

Patient Participation Group Reports

Up until March 2015 practices were required to complete a report of PPG activities, but this is no longer a requirement. However we feel it is useful for you to know the sorts of interaction we have had with our PPG over the last year, They have helped us with the following items, and we would like to thank them for their support and involvement:

  • Feedback about flu clinics
  • Reviewing the use of Web GP and the decision to cease using this system
  • Developing our website
  • Participating in wider projects led by our CCG
