Winter can be a challenging time for many, especially for our elderly and more vulnerable patients. At Westongrove Partnership, we want to ensure you have all the information and support you need to stay warm, well, and connected this winter.
This webpage provides essential advice and links to local services in Aylesbury and the surrounding areas.

Your Health This Winter
1. Get Your Flu and COVID-19 Vaccinations
Winter vaccinations are the best way to protect yourself from serious illness. If you are eligible, we strongly encourage you to book your appointments as soon as possible.
- Who is eligible? The flu vaccine is free for people aged 65 and over, pregnant women, and those with certain long-term health conditions. The COVID-19 booster is available for those aged 75 and over and people with a weakened immune system.
- How to book: You can book your vaccination appointments online via the NHS App or by calling the practice.
2. Keep Your Home Warm
Staying warm can help prevent colds, flu, and more serious health problems.
- Try to heat your home to at least 18°C (65°F), especially the rooms you use regularly.
- Keep your bedroom windows closed at night.
- Wear several layers of light clothing to trap warm air.
3. Look After Your Mental Health
Shorter days and colder weather can affect our mood. It’s important to look after your mental wellbeing.
- Stay connected with friends and family.
- If you’re feeling low, talking to someone can help. You can refer yourself to NHS Talking Therapies.
4. Stock Up Your Medicine Cabinet
Be prepared for common winter ailments like coughs and colds. Ask your local pharmacist for advice on over-the-counter remedies. Also, ensure you have enough of your regular prescription medications, especially over the Christmas and New Year period.
