You and Your General Practice
We know it can sometimes feel confusing to get the right help from your GP practice. That’s why the NHS has created a guide called “You and Your General Practice” — to help you understand what you can expect and how to get the most out of the service.
What you’ll find in this guide
- What happens when you contact the practice to request an appointment
- Who you might talk to or see (GP, nurse, health coach, etc.)
- How to use online NHS services (prescriptions, records, etc.)
- What to do when the practice is closed
- How to share feedback, ask questions, or raise concerns
How we’ll follow the guide
The information in the “You and Your General Practice” document is subject to national review. We aim to deliver care in line with this guide, doing our best to meet its standards. Sometimes things like staff availability, equipment, or legal/safety rules can affect how quickly changes happen — but we are committed to working with you.
